I'm making thai fried rice and the recipe says to use thai red curry paste but I only need 1 tbsp and don't want to make a huge batch. Any ideas for a cheap alternative?Substitute ideas for thai red curry paste?
I would just sub some chili flakes. The Curry paste is prolly for more of a spicy kick to the dish....so adding an alternative spicyiness should compensate for the curry paste.
You could also try using some Tom Yum paste....
The grocery store should have a small size can of curry paste that you can use. I usually only need a tbl. or 2 for my dishes, so I just put the paste in a sealed container and put it in the fridge. It tastes just as good as the day I opened the can
