Anyone else not like Thai food?

I have never liked it. I live near Silom Market, and go there for Tofu and stuff.

Yesterday saw and smelt the Haw Mok freshly made on the shelf, all steamy and warm, and though it looked amazing, and didn't know the name.

I saw it, googles it overnight, all I knew was it had fish, curry and looked like a fish floss bun with white mayo or something on top.I was thinking and dreamign of it all night.

I still didn't know what it was. today passed by and HAd to go in and buy that darn thing. It looked SO good, all moist and fresh- I like fish, and if it's fresh made daily, why not, a fish floss bun is nice anytime.

The Thai ladt at the checkout asked me if I like it, I said

"I don't know!", and I asked what it was in thai. She said "Haw mok. Pra" ( pra is fish, I know that)

so I bought it after jonesing for it for ages.

Got in the car, couldn't wait to get home.

Got in, opened that container and there they were.

Two steaming banana-leaf wrapped steamed Haw Mok. pink fish, with coconut milk on top, steamed in the banana leaf shaped into a bowl with steamed green on the bottom. They put egg and coconut in it, and red curry.

So I piled in and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted . Really really horrible,

I have eaten thai food before, thought this time I was getting the right thing for me. It had that slightly burnt rubber taste of lemongrass, some other unnaturally sweet taste- what IS that , the glaangal or what? It tastes if Thailand food, the smell is SO not as good as the food.

There is always that same saem sweet , burnt rubber taste inside the curry, some lemon or the thai basil, which gives it that horrible sweet-paint flavour.

WHy do I hate Thai food?

I gave it a long break, Am I alone in this, Why does eveyrone love it but not me?

I hate the stuff, it's like NEVER nice.

It's either the thai basil or the lemon grass that rins it.

I've been to Thailand too, a few times, it's the same there. Not with plain sstuff but with anything that uses a soup or sauce.

Nasty.

This is the recipe from a Thai site.

I was going to keep my mouth shut about not liking Thai, but now I see there are kindred spirits!

I've eaten it roughly 5x in "good" restaurants. It simply doesn't make contact with me. I'll give them credit that it's unique, but that's about all. They do much better with their temples and written script. I particularly disliked the basil, lemongrass and coconut milk based sauces. There IS a distinct smell and underlying taste in each bite that is unpalatable, doubtless "fish sauce." French or other European food would be infinitely more preferable, but then again, after my experiences with Thai cuisine, so would eating at a Shoney's.
i never like Thai food. i just can not stand the smell of the cooking, the ingredient they put in.Anyone else not like Thai food?
Thai food is DISGUSTING! im a very picky eater so dont worry there are other thai food haters out there.
i freakin LOVE thai food, ur crazyAnyone else not like Thai food?
I like some but not all. I don't like it when they overdo the fish sauce %26amp; fish. I hate Pad Thai %26amp; a few other, but I like Pad See Ew %26amp; Tom Yum soup.

Even though galangal, lemon grass etc are also used, I prefer Indonesian, Malaysian or Straits Chinese (Indon Malay + Chinese fusion) foods, because there is a nice balance of sweet, salty %26amp; spicy.
I will not eat thai food ! So no you are not alone believe me,I know plenty people who will not touch thai food either.

I looked at your link. No thank you for me.

Perhaps it is because I am used to better food like french..
