What is the best way to spice up Pad Thai?

The package mix from the supermarket was quite bland. What do you recommend to make it hotter?

Please, no elaborate recipes. I'm a senior, not a gourmet cook. What is the best way to spice up Pad Thai?
Add peanut butter (creamy) and some red pepper flakes. Or you could by some asain chili sauce and mix that in. You could also do a mixture of ketchup and soy sauce (gross sounding, but homemade pad thai has that in it). Good luck! What is the best way to spice up Pad Thai?
By far, the trickiest part is the soaked noodles. Noodles should be somewhat flexible and solid, not completely expanded and soft. When in doubt, undersoak. You can always add more water in the pan, but you can't take it out.

You can add 1/2 tsp white ground pepper. 1/2 tsp gound dried chilli pepper.

Tamarind adds some flavor and acidity, but you can substitute white vinegar (1 tbsp).

The original Pad Thai recipe calls for crushed roasted peanuts.

Some chives and bean sprout too.

Rinse the bean sprouts Use a wok. Heat it up on high heat and pour oil in the wok. Fry the peanuts until toasted and remove them from the wok. Add garlic and fry until they start to brown. Drain the noodles and add to the wok. Stir quickly to keep things from sticking. Add tamarind, chili pepper and the package from the box. Stir. The heat should remain high. Add bean sprouts, chives. Stir a few more times. The noodles should be soft and very tangled.
