Help with Thai fish sauce recipe?

For my international cooking class, I have to choose certain Thai recipes for my project. All of the recipes must be made from scratch and I'm specifically having trouble finding one for fish sauce. Can anyone recommend a recipe or a website that has a fish sauce recipe?

Thank you so much. Any other Thai food suggestions would be appreciated.Help with Thai fish sauce recipe?
I agree with Victorgal. Unless one of the recipes you must make is explicitly for "Thai Fish Sauce", I think you can use a bottled one. It's an ingredient in the recipe, not the recipe itself. You don't have to grow the tomatoes you'll use, or catch the fish, right? :-) Ok, I understand it's a little different, but I would think of it as soy sauce. If you had a recipe that needed soy sauce, no one would expect you to make that ingredient from scratch.

For recipe suggestions, my favorite Thai dish is a salad called Yum Woon Sen. It is made with chicken, shrimp, fish sauce based dressing, bean thread noodles, and some veggies. Here's a recipe: http://www.thaifoodtonight.com/thaifoodt鈥?/a>

Another thing I really like are fried corn patties. They're a delicious appetizer. Recipe: http://scaugheyrecipes.blogspot.com/2006鈥?/a>

I like other Thai things too, but those are two of my favorite dishes that fewer people seem to have tried.
Almost all Thai dishes use fish sauce.....but you can't actually make the fish sauce by yourself. It is an ingredient that your teacher wants you to use. Buy a bottle of fish sauce from the grocery store. Most large stores sell it now, if not, you can buy it at an Asian food store.

If you want to make the actual fish sauce - well, start now because it takes at least nine months, usually closer to a year. :-p It has to be fermented until the fish breaks down to a liquid, which is why it takes so long.

For recipes that just use fish sauce, my favorite recipe site has over 500 recipes listed with the word "Thai" in the title that use fish sauce. Go here -----%26gt; http://www.recipezaar.com/recipes.php?q[鈥?/a> sort by rating to get at the ones those of us who hang out there have deemed the best and see what looks good to you or like something at your skill level. Some of the ethnic dishes can be quite involved or have ingredients that aren't easily available, so it's best if you browse them yourself.

Good luck!
It is not possible to make thai fish sauce from scatch as it is not economical feasible and most thai people bought from shelves. What your teacher mean it make the food from scatch and not relying on any paste etc.

you can try Pad Thai

Most Thai food have fish sauce in it. You should do a noodle dish since it's so much easier to cook. Pad thai or pad see ew is delicious and easy. I don't know if you have to make the noodles yourself though. I also really enjoy their stir fry dishes which contain fish sauce.
